The chamber opens after a span of time no one could measure. It releases no smoke and no visible matter: only a current of cold, dry air. For a few seconds the space seems empty.
Then its surfaces appear. The interior is black and reflective; we can't tell if it is volcanic glass, ceramic, or a technical material that outlived the structure that made it.
Then the system answers. Nothing burns: the change happens as temperature. The mineral dryness begins to radiate, and an electric presence that had been lying dormant wakes.
What remains is a clean field of wood, metal and warm mineral.
